The Zambia Police Service in Nyimba District on Tuesday, 4th March 2025, joined the rest of the country in celebrating Police Open Day under the theme “Enhancing Crime Prevention Through Community Participation for a Secure, Safe, and Peaceful Environment.”
The event began with a march-past from Nyimba Stream Bridge to Nyimba Police Station.
Speaking during the celebrations, Nyimba District Commissioner Paul Daka urged the Zambia Police in the district to actively engage the community by sharing information on various crimes.
Mr. Daka emphasized that the police should work closely with the community to prevent crime in the district. He also appealed to the Zambia Police Service to conduct both foot and motorized patrols in collaboration with the community to make Nyimba District a safe and peaceful place.
Furthermore, Mr. Daka encouraged the general public not to be afraid of providing information to the police regarding criminal activities.
Meanwhile, Nyimba District Police Officer-in-Charge Innocent Chayabi called on the public to continue strengthening their working relationship with the Zambia Police to effectively prevent all forms of crime.
In a speech read on his behalf by Station Inspector Cosmas Chileshe, Mr. Chayabi stated that crime prevention should not be left solely in the hands of the Zambia Police.
He also commended the government for its continued support to the Zambia Police Service through the provision of infrastructure, equipment, and recruitment of personnel.
Mr. Chayabi further assured the public that the Zambia Police Service are committed to making Nyimba District a conducive and secure environment for all.
